Goalkeeper Caig is heading for a new career in Texas

The 20-year-old is the son of former Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United manager Howard Wilkinson.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Tony Caig has left Gretna to join US Major League Soccer Champions Houston Dynamo.

The 33-year-old made just nine appearances after his protracted move from the Vancouver Whitecaps was finalised in October.

"Long consideration was given to this opportunity for Tony," director of football Mick Wadsworth told the club website.

"This offers him and his family security both on and off the field.

"One of the issues raised was the terrific development, that Tony has overseen, of Greg Fleming.

"He has gone from being a rookie goalkeeper to playing in the SPL and gaining international recognition.

"As a consequence of Greg's progress, we felt that Tony could inhibit his development further by staying in the team and it is an opportunity to promote Greg back into the number one jersey."

Wilkinson signed a two-year deal with the Tigers in 2006 and can play in a variety of midfield roles.

Before joining the Hull academy, the player started his career with hometown club Sheffield United and has also played with Derby County.

To compensate for Caig's departure, the Raydale side have brought in Polish under 21 international Artur Krysiak to compete with Fleming for the number one jersey.

Krysiak has been signed from Birmingham on loan until the end of the season having been third choice at St Andrews.
