Goalkeeper Tony Caig may make his Gretna debut against Celtic on Sunday after finally completing his protracted move from Vancouver Whitecaps. The former Newcastle, Hibernian and Carlisle United player has signed on amateur terms until January.
Scottish Premier League had initially objected to the 33-year-old joining outside the transfer window.
However, Caig is now clear to play for the Black & Whites and could replace Greg Fleming at Fir Park.
Caig has been training with Gretna after leaving Canada in June under the impression he could sign with the Premier League newcomers.
But he had three months of his contract remaining with the Whitecaps and they refused to release him before the transfer deadline on 31 August.
Gretna had earlier plugged their goalkeeping gap by bringing 37-year-old Colin Scott out of retirement as back-up to Fleming.
Scott, who signed until January, had ended a seven-year spell with Queen of the South in the summer after being advised to give up the game following a troublesome knee injury.
