Hessenthaler lost new signing Adam Birchall to a cruciate knee ligament injury in pre-season.
Gillingham manager Andy Hessenthaler has admitted their search for a new striker is less of a priority because of their unbeaten start to the season.
When new signing Adam Birchall picked up a serious knee injury in pre-season, the Gills targeted a new striker to play alongside Danny Kedwell.
Hessenthaler told BBC Radio Kent: "Obviously Adam's injured and we need to bring another striker in.
"But with the start we've had I think the chairman's in no rush."
Gillingham have made their best start to a league season in 16 years, winning three and drawing one of their first four league games.
Former AFC Wimbledon man Kedwell has been playing as a lone striker since the start of the season, and his manager says he has warned the other two senior forwards at the club that he is still looking for another goalscorer.
"I had a chat with Dennis (Oli) and told him that we still need another striker, and we do. We've got Dennis champing at the bit, Kedwell of course, and Stefan Payne to come back after a virus," added Hessenthaler.
