Gillingham will be without midfielder Danny Spiller for at least a fortnight with an Achilles injury.
Spiller, who celebrates his 29th birthday this weekend, has been one of only two ever-presents for the League Two club this season.
Manager Andy Hessenthaler told the club website: "Danny needs an injection which means two weeks' rest.
"That's a blow because he has been playing so well. Danny is the type of player we need."
Gillingham lost 7-4 to Accrington on Saturday, equalling a club record of 28 league away games without a win.
Hessenthaler will now hope full-back John Nutter will be fit to play against Stockport on Saturday, freeing Chris Palmer up to replace Spiller in midfield.
