Akinfenwa signed for Gillingham from Northampton Town
Gillingham striker Adebayo Akinfenwa has told supporters not to worry about the team's winless start to the season and promised they will get better.
Akinfenwa told BBC Radio Kent: "We are a confident bunch of players and, mark the day, I'm telling you we'll do something in this league."
The 28-year-old hit the post in the Gills' 1-0 home defeat to Lincoln City, after an early goal by Cian Hughton.
"I've come into the team and this is a good-quality squad," he added.
Gillingham have gone four games without a victory at the beginning of the season.
"It's going to be a long week before we play Morecambe away. If we don't win there - God forbid - the first win will still be sooner rather than later," said Akinfenwa.
The forward signed for Gillingham on a free transfer after his contract with Northampton Town expired this summer. He scored 17 goals for the Cobblers in 2009/10 and netted on his Gills debut in their opening-day draw with Cheltenham Town.
