Gillingham midfielder Stuart Lewis says he is lucky to have escaped serious injury during Saturday's match with Huddersfield.
Huddersfield striker Nathan Eccleston, on loan from Liverpool, was dismissed for the 26th minute challenge.
Lewis, 22, told BBC Radio Kent: "I'm fine - luckily. As a fellow professional you don't want to be on the end of tackles like that.
"I'm all for fair tackling but there's no place for challenges like that."
Lewis added: "I was on the wrong end of a bad tackle in the pre-season friendly against Bishops Stortford and was out for a couple of months.
"I was lucky to escape serious injury on Saturday."
Gillingham beat Huddersfield 2-0 in the game, with two goals from Simeon Jackson.
