Gillingham could strengthen their side with loan signings despite their solid start to the new season in League Two.
Gills assistant manager Scott Barrett told BBC Radio Kent: "The chairman (Paul Scally) might say we don't need anyone if we keep getting results.
"But, if we can bring players in who improve the squad and the chairman makes funds available, we will do.
"If it was the right player, and the manager (Mark Stimson) wanted him, I think the chairman would back him."
The Gills lost out to Cheltenham in their bid to sign Lloyd Owusu from Yeovil on transfer deadline day and Stimson is believed to be chasing a new striker.
Gillingham make their first trip to Shrewsbury's New Meadow ground on Saturday. You can hear commentary on BBC Radio Kent.
