Gillingham central defender Efe Sodje is to play with a protective mask rather than have an operation to repair a fractured eye socket. Surgery would have left Sodje facing at least four weeks out of action.
Sodje, 35, sustained the facial wound in the 2-1 defeat at Yeovil last month and has sat out the last three games.
"Even though he will have a protective mask I don't believe he will feature during the festive period," said Gills boss Mark Stimson.
