Ex-wicketkeeper Russell is lending a hand to Forest Green's goalkeepers |
Former England and Gloucestershire cricketer Jack Russell is using his wicket-keeper background to help Forest Green's goalkeepers in their warm-ups. Russell, a Rovers fan, is the coach to current England gloveman Geraint Jones.
Forest Green boss Gary Owers told BBC Radio Gloucestershire: "Jack has got an interest in the goalkeeping side.
"He is taking it very seriously and it is not a gimmick. Hopefully he can bring something to our goalkeepers and the lads like having him around."
Owers added: "He is probably looking to take something back when he's working with cricketers."
Russell, 42, played 54 Tests for England and represented Gloucestershire for 23 seasons before his retirement in 2004.
