Addison replaces Nigel Spink, who was axed on Saturday after Rovers lost their fifth game in a row to remain pointless at the bottom of the Nationwide Conference. Addison, 62, has agreed a two-year contract at The Lawn after leaving his position as assistant-manager at Newport County. Forest Green chairman Trevor Horsley backed the experience of Addison. "Colin's got experience at every level, and he's managed in the Conference at Yeovil and Scarborough. "He knows it won't be easy but he'll get as much support as he can from us," he told BBC Radio Gloucestershire. He is expected to take charge on Wednesday, with first-team coach Paul Birch taking charge for Tuesday night's visit to Burton Albion. Addison's previous managerial career includes spells in charge of Derby County, Atletico Madrid and Hereford United and last season he managed Swansea City, before being made redundant in a cost-cutting measure. |
