Pressley insists some would be happy to see Falkirk relegated

Steven Pressley has told BBC Scotland he believes sections within Scottish football would be pleased to see his Falkirk side relegated.

The Bairns are joint bottom of the Scottish Premier League table with Kilmarnock, with two games remaining.

Citing a siege mentality at the club, Pressley said his squad were keen to prove the detractors wrong.

"We will use these as a tool to motivate ourselves and use it to help avoid the drop," he said.

Falkirk host St Johnstone on Wednesday before travelling to Rugby Park to face relegation rivals Kilmarnock three days later.

"I get the feeling that many people at the turn of the year would have thought that we would have been relegated by this time," said Pressley.

"But we are not; we are still in there fighting. There are also sections of the football community who would be pleased to see us go down."

Pressley also said there was a great spirit within the squad and that his players would get the points required to preserve their SPL status.

"We are all looking forward to the challenge ahead," he said. "There is a terrific atmosphere at training. I have said all along that our destiny is in our own hands.

"We are together as a team in all of this and that is the most important part. We have been at the bottom of the table for the vast majority of the season but we repeatedly come out fighting."
