May was managing Falkirk for the first time in a competitive match
Eddie May expressed delight after Falkirk won their first ever European match and his first game in charge against Vaduz.
May was especially pleased with his recent signings, one of which, Ryan Flynn, scored the game's only goal.
"There were encouraging signs," May told BBC Scotland. "The four guys who have come in were excellent along with the other boys.
"The back four and the two who were sitting in front were fantastic."
Flynn's goal five minutes into the second half came during a rare period of Bairns pressure with Vaduz enjoying the bulk of the chances in the second round qualifying tie first leg.
"They were a half-decent team but I thought the boys equipped themselves very, very well," added May.
"In certain patches, we showed what we're going to try to achieve at the football club. We couldn't get that for the full 90 minutes because we're at an early stage.
"We're at the early stage of pre-season and it showed on some occasions."
Falkirk have lost several players since last season and May fielded a largely inexperienced side against the Liechtensteiner outfit.
"They've got good qualities, the young boys," May said.
"They'll get every chance but they'll have to be better than the players who we bring in.
"We're all wanting the same thing at the club and that's success and I think with the group of players that we've got and the players that we're going to add, we'll all pull together towards that.
"If I could get another four players, that'll be a decent squad for us."
Meanwhile, May once again refused to be drawn on the future of Neil McCann, with reports suggesting the winger is set to leave the Scottish Premier League club.
"I've been on record saying I don't really want to talk about it," added the Falkirk manager.
"I think the European game is more important than anything.
"After we're finished in Europe, there should be a statement from the football club."
