Sunderland track striker Stokes
Falkirk stiker Anthony Stokes
Stokes has been in great form for Falkirk
Sunderland manager Roy Keane has revealed he is interested in taking the SPL's top scorer Anthony Stokes to the Stadium of Light.

The Arsenal striker has 11 goals to his name including two hat-tricks, since his temporary move to Falkirk.

"We're interested in any quality player and I think the lad's done very well," said Keane.

"I have seen him twice in the last month, against Celtic and Hearts, two of the better teams in Scotland."

The teenager has stated he is happy to extend his stay in Scotland but could be tempted to a move to the north east once the transfer window opens in January.

"He's direct, a real good talent and a very good, young, hungry player and he's one we're looking at," added Keane.

"I might well step up my interest."

The Black Cats are currently 13th in the Championship and trail leaders Birmingham by 10 points.

Stokes returns from suspension to Falkirk's first XI for Saturday's match against Aberdeen.
