Exeter City skipper Matt Gill says the club deserves to be playing in the Football League.
City face Cambridge United on Sunday in the Blue Square play-off final for a place in League Two.
"I think a lot of the lads deserve to be playing in league football. The club could quite easily cope in League Two," Gill told BBC Radio Devon.
City lost the 2007 play-off final to Morecambe and beat Devon rivals Torquay United to make Wembley this year.
"The way Morecambe have performed this year shows us that it could have been us," Gill, who was sent off in last year's play-off final, said.
"We're that close again so let's grab it this time."
