Gallen leaves Exeter for Millwall
Exeter City
Exeter City have confirmed the departure of assistant manager Joe Gallen, who is set to take up a role with Millwall's youth academy.

The Lions are currently without a manager, but Gallen is set to be part of a new coaching set-up.

Gallen, 35, had been assistant to Paul Tisdale for just three months.

"The news that Joe was to move on came as a surprise to all of us, but that is the nature of football," Tisdale told the Grecians' website.

"Joe is an excellent coach, but in the best tradition we must move on to the future."

Gallen had been youth coach at Queens Park Rangers before moving to Devon when Paul Buckle left Exeter to take over as Torquay manager.

Meanwhile, Millwall chairman John Berylson has hinted that their new manager may not be appointed before Saturday's game at Leeds.

"I know what I am looking for in a manager - someone who knows this league, the players and the staff and would be excited by the job," Berylson told the South London Press.

"What we are not going to do is decide on the wrong guy."

Richard Shaw and Colin West have been in caretaker charge since Willie Donachie's recent sacking as boss.
