Everton midfielder Leon Osman hopes that Brazilian striker Jo will continue improving after scoring twice in the 4-0 victory over Wigan on Sunday.

"If he continues to score only home goals and gets as many as he does then we'll be pleased," Osman told BBC Radio Merseyside after the victory.

"He's been doing really well for us lately and I hope it continues.

"He can get some power behind his strike as soon as he hits them they're very difficult to save."

Osman, 27, believes that the forward, on loan from Manchester City until May, still has time on his side.

"People forget he's still young," Osman continued. "He's just turned 22 and its his first season in the league so he's still learning as he goes along.

"If he continues like he did today no-one can argue."

With playmaker Mikel Arteta absent in the centre of Everton's midfield, Osman has been given extra responsibility to be a creative force for David Moyes' side.

Osman admitted he was able to cut inside from a wide position and move centrally to help create chances during the Wigan game on Sunday.

"That's how it worked out today - I found myself in there a few times as did Steven Pienaar. It gives us licence to get in there and it worked out really well for us.

"Next week we may well have to stay out wide, but it depends on who you play."
