Everton face an anxious wait on Yobo's fitness
New Everton signing Joseph Yobo could miss the start of the new season after picking up an injury in his debut for the club on Tuesday.

The Nigerian international defender lasted just 22 minutes of Everton's 6-0 win over Queen's Park.

He collided with John Gemmell and was later taken to hospital to determine the extent of the damage to his lower leg.

Toffees boss David Moyes said: "He has got a knock and gone for an X-ray. So I am just waiting for a result on that.

"He was caught on the fibula which has become swollen. He was very sore when he came in but I cannot tell you any more on it just yet."

Teenager Wayne Rooney continued his excellent form with a hat-trick, bringing his pre-season goals total to eight.

The 16-year-old played alongside Duncan Ferguson up front and opened the scoring in the 16th minute.

Ferguson doubled Everton's lead before Rooney scored again just before half-time.

Kevin McLeod added a fourth just after the break, Rooney netted again in the 55th minute and Idan Tal made it six from the spot 12 minutes from time.
