Clyde are commited to finding a replacement for Alan Upton |
East Stirlingshire have further signalled their intent by taking Clyde's head of youth development, Alan Upton, to Firs Park. Upton has been appointed reserve team coach as the Falkirk club attempt to end a five-year run at the bottom of Scotland's Division Three.
But their plans to participate in the Reserve League West were thwarted.
The Scottish Football League did not find enough clubs interested to run the league next season.
Manager Gordon Wylde told the Shire website: "It's disappointing the league won't go ahead, but I have been given assurances by managers at other clubs there will be a series of weekly friendly matches, home and away."
Shire will also participate in the Reserve League Cup.
The SFL has told the club that another season as Scotland's worst senior side could lead to a withdrawal of full member status.
That could lead to them being voted out the league within two seasons.
Meanwhile, Clyde have insisted that the First Division club "remains fully committed to the coaching and development of young players".
The Cumbernauld outfit, who are presently seeking a new manager following the departure of Joe Miller, also intend appointing a successor to Upton.
