BBC Sport believes former Scotland defender Colin Hendry and ex-Rangers coach John Brown are in contention.

Clyde director Frank Dunn said he was impressed by the calibre of candidates and that interviews were under way.

Fellow director John Ruddy said the club had interviewed 30 candidates, and dismissed speculation it had approached St Johnstone's Derek McInnes.

Another, unnamed former Scotland international is also believed to be in the running for the job to succeed Joe Miller.

Former Scotland captain Hendry has management experience in England with League One outfit Blackpool.

He took charge in June 2004 but left in November 2005 to join the coaching staff at Boston United.

Brown's nine-year spell on the Ibrox club's coaching staff ended in June last year, departing just weeks after Paul Le Guen took over as manager.

Miller had been poised to sign a lucrative new two-year contract with Clyde, but negotiations stalled and he left by mutual consent.

Dunn said the Bully Wee were eager to have their new manager in place.

"We appreciate how important the close season is and while not wanting to rush the appointment we wish to conclude this process as soon as possible," he said.
