Lee Wilkie had been asked to take a pay cut |
Injury-plagued Scotland defender Lee Wilkie has played for the first time since April after severing his ties with Dundee. The 26-year-old played 45 minutes for Dundee United reserves in a 1-1 draw with their Kilmarnock counterparts.
Wilkie has been training with United in the hope of winning a contract with the Scottish Premier League club.
He is battling back to fitness after suffering three cruciate ligament injuries in recent years.
Wilkie's appearance for United had been delayed after Dundee intervened to prevent him training with their city rivals.
The player and the club had been haggling over the severance payments.
Wilkie was allowed to leave Dens Park after refusing to accept a pay cut.
The defender had broke down injured again during a First Division match against St Johnstone in April.
He was asked to take a drop in wages along with other high earners at Dens Park but decided his future would lie elsewhere.
