McDonald says he wants to help fire Dundee into the SPL |
Dundee midfielder Kevin McDonald has signed a contract extension to keep him at Dens Park until 2009. The 19-year-old had been linked with a move to the SPL or the Premiership, and has been compared to Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor in front of goal.
Dundee manager Alex Rae told the club website he was delighted McDonald had decided to remain in Tayside.
McDonald said: "It's great to sign for another year and hopefully help the club gain promotion to the SPL."
Rae said he was confident the Dundee supporters would be happy McDonald had moved to end speculation over his future.

"It gives us the opportunity to build a team round him. He's pivotal to what we want to do at the club," Rae said.
McDonald kept Dundee's promotion hopes alive after scoring an injury-time winner against Partick Thistle at Dens Park on Saturday.
Slovenian team-mate Jani Sturm said McDonald was vital to Dundee's promotion hopes.
"It's very important to us that Kevin has signed," he told The Daily Express.
"He could've gone to the Premiership, he's ready for one of the big clubs, so it's great news for Dundee that he will stay.
"The first time I saw him I was surprised at how good he was. He reminds me of Adebayor and Javier Chevanton in their early days at Monaco."
