Nugent played 25 times for East Fife in the past season
Dumbarton have signed Paul Nugent after the defender was released by Second Division rivals East Fife.
The Sons website states that the 27-year-old has been a long-time target for manager Jim Chapman.
Chapman believes that Nugent, who began his career with Clyde before spending seven years with Stirling Albion, will add versatility to his squad.
The defender, who joined the Fifers in 2008, made 25 appearances last season as they finished a spot below Sons.
It is an appropriate move for Nugent as he works for Chivas, the sponsors of the side who finished sixth in the Division Two table.
He had been released by the Fifers along with Bob Campbell, Guy Kerr, Alan Lowing, Jamie McCunnie, Johnny MacRae, Jordyn Sheerin, Goran Stanic, Mark Staunton and Scott Thomson.
