Commons is Derby's leading scorer this season with seven goals
Winger Kris Commons believes Derby can still improve after extending their unbeaten run to six games with their 3-2 victory at Doncaster.
That run of form has seen the Rams climb out of the Championship's bottom three up to seventh.
And Commons told BBC Radio Derby: "Our tails are high and we're looking a half-decent unit at the moment.
"Hopefully there will be a snowballing effect and we will keep getting better, working harder."
He added: "We've also got our injured players coming back. Miles Addison is not far off training and hopefully sniffing around a place on the bench in a couple of weeks, and there's Stephen Pearson.
"We are going to get more competition for places and that will have a big impact on the players that are playing if they are to keep their shirts.
"That is going to benefit Derby and the squad so that we can kick on and put in better performances with better players in the side."
Derby have taken 14 points from their last six games, scoring 15 goals in the process.
And Scotland international Commons says their recent record has much to do with the wealth of attacking options at manager Nigel Clough's disposal.
"We are clicking on all cylinders," added Commons. "Alberto Bueno has added a huge amount of quality.
"It seems people aren't bothered about getting too tight to me, they are having to watch Bueno, [Paul] Green and Tomasz [Cywka].
"We've got dangerous players going forward now, and, with Luke Moore and Shefki [Kuqi] lurking, we've got goals from five different players.
"It's brilliant to play with and we're a force to be reckoned with going in one direction."
