Derby County interest in Gary Hooper stalls over fee
Hooper scored 20 goals in 33 starts last season
Derby County manager Nigel Clough says their attempts to sign Scunthorpe striker Gary Hooper have stalled over the size of the transfer fee.
Clough is still keen on the 22-year old forward, who scored 19 goals in the Championship last season.
But the Rams boss told BBC Radio Derby: "Scunthorpe want an awful lot of money for him and we already have six strikers on our books.
"The combination of those things mean we won't be adding him at the moment."
The Rams have Rob Hulse, Kris Commons, Luke Varney, Chris Porter and Tomasz Cywka competing for the striking positions.
Clough added: "We won't be making a big signing in that department but if there was a good loan available on a half-season or season-long loan at the right place then we would certainly look at that."
