Savage ready as Rams hit the ground running

Derby County's players have been put through their paces at Loughborough this week with a punishing four-day intensive pre-season training camp.

Skills and tactics have been ditched in favour of endless running and general fitness training but winger David Martin said it was a necessary evil.

The former Millwall player told BBC East Midlands Today: "You see the track and think 'look what I've got to do'.

"But you must have a strong mentality, get through it and get the work done."

He added: "It's been a slog and the weather hasn't helped but you need to put the work in."
