Derby County midfielder Stephen Pearson offered no excuses after his side's below-par display in the home defeat against Doncaster Rovers.

The Rams were unbeaten in four before Saturday's 2-0 loss but have now dropped to 18th in the Championship.

"We didn't play as well as we have over the past few weeks and got what we deserved - no points," Pearson told BBC Radio Derby.

"We didn't perform, we didn't get close enough to people and paid the price."

Derby get the chance to make amends when they host Blackpool on Boxing Day.

Pearson, who recently signed a new deal keeping him at Pride Park until 2012, added: "We're pretty down, it's a hard result to take and the performance wasn't great so we're looking forward to Boxing Day now."
