Derby County chairman of football Adam Pearson says he is thrilled striker Rob Hulse turned down a deadline-day move to Middlesbrough.
Boro offered more than £4m for the 29-year-old former Sheffield United, Leeds and West Brom forward.
But Derby's top-scorer and player of the year from last season opted to stay at Pride Park.
"Rob is staying and we are delighted. I'm sure he will go on to be a very important player for us," Pearson said.
"We look forward to seeing him produce the quality of football he did last season."
