Porter joined the Rams from Motherwell in January

Derby County striker Chris Porter is expected to be ruled out of action until late December after having surgery on a hip injury.

Porter, 25, joined the Rams in January but has struggled with injury and has been unable to get a run in the side.

"It's frustrating but the operation has been a success," manager Nigel Clough told the club's website.

"We are not likely to see him until at least Christmas but Chris is a great lad and will work hard on his rehab."
