Michael Forsyth played over 400 games for Derby in nine seasons

Derby County have appointed former players Darren Wassall and Michael Forsyth to the academy coaching staff.

The pair, who both played under Derby boss Nigel Clough at Burton Albion, have been brought in to identify and train local talent.

Clough told the club's website: "Michael and Darren are two great people with a great knowledge of football in the region.

"We are lucky to have them help us take the academy in a new direction."

The Ram's boss also hinted that there would be further appointments as the club look to restructure their youth setup.

Both Wassall and Forsyth enjoyed successful playing spells for Derby and will begin their new posts at the club immediately.
