Northants' hopes of reaching the quarter-finals of the Friends Provident Trophy are over after rain washed out their game against Derbyshire.

With only two games left, Northants cannot catch second-placed Essex in Group D, while the result also reduced Derbyshire's hopes of progressing.

Heavy rain prevented the game starting on time at 1430 BST.

But after the umpires had made four inspections, another downpour led to the contest being called off.
