Derby County midfielder Giles Barnes has joined Fulham on loan until the end of the season, with a view to a permanent move.
The 20-year-old was paraded at Craven Cottage before Fulham's Premier League clash with Portsmouth on Saturday.
Barnes scored twice in Derby's 4-2 League Cup defeat at Manchester United under new manager Nigel Clough.
He progressed through Derbys youth ranks and has represented England at Under-18 and Under-19 level.
Barnes' impressive performances for the Rams earned him a Championship player of the month award in March 2007, followed with Derbys young player of the season award.
An injury sustained in the play-off final at Wembley in May 2007, meant Barnes first Premier League start was not until October that year.
He scored his first top-flight goal against Newcastle United in December 2007.
Discussing the move, Clough told BBC Radio Derby: "We've got to give Giles that opportunity.
"He's not what we'd class as a 100% match-fit, he's been out an awfully long time and in our situation we hope it [the move] won't do us any harm."
Clough added: "It is a dilemma that we haven't got that time or luxury to give him a few games to get him match-fit.
"We need players and results now, so that was behind our thinking as well."
Barnes has scored 10 league goals for the Rams since joining as a trainee in 2005.
