Jewell is hoping to give his squad a fresh look with new numbers

Derby County manager Paul Jewell has given every member of his 31-man squad a new number for the start of the Championship season on 9 August.

After signing 11 new players so far this summer Jewell's decision is another way of shaking off the ghost of last season's Premier League campaign.

Stephen Pearson has been given the number 27 shirt despite being linked with a move to Birmingham.

The Scottish midfielder has returned to Derby for treatment on a groin strain.
