Derby boss Paul Jewell has high hopes for Emanuel Villa |
Derby County boss Paul Jewell believes Emanuel Villa's goal in the draw with Birmingham will be the first of many. The Argentine striker earned the Rams a point with a superb glancing header.
Jewell told BBC Radio Derby: "When I signed him I did say it was a bit of a gamble. But if we get the ball in the box with quality this kid will score.
"It was a terrific header. He's a really good kid and it's always nice to get off the mark when you are a striker - it's a major lift off his shoulders."
Jewell believes Villa, who signed for 2million at the start of January, is settling in as well as can be expected.
 | Alan Stubbs was terrific and Roy Carroll was immense |
"It's difficult to come into a team when it's are struggling and when you can't speak the language," he said. "And when it's a different culture it's twice as difficult."
Jewell was also impressed by Alan Stubbs and Roy Carroll - who both joined on transfer deadline day.
"I thought Alan was terrific, along with Roy. I don't think Stubbsy lost a header. His distribution was good and he defended well.
"Roy looked immense in goal without having too much to do. He gave us a calmness and assurance and he made a great save in the first half.
"There were a lot of positives."
