Derby County's board are to discuss plans to increase the capacity of Pride Park following the demand for tickets for next season. The Rams have sold all 23,000 season tickets for Pride Park, which has a capacity of over 33,000 but can be increased to 44,000.
"The board will be sitting down to think through the plan to increase the capacity," a spokesman told BBC Sport.
If the increase is approved it would be for the start of the 2008-09 season.
The stadium, which opened in 1997, was built with plans for a potential increase in capacity in mind.
The club secured a return to the Premiership by beating West Brom in the Championship play-off final.
Promotion to the top flight is worth 60m to clubs, according to financial experts.
