Barnes came on as a second half substitute in the play off final |
Giles Barnes is expected to be fit for the start of the Premiership season, despite suffering a broken foot. Barnes managed to complete the play-off final despite picking up the injury after coming on as a substitute.
And Rams boss Billy Davies believes the 18-year-old will be ready to make an instant impact in the top flight.
"We are quite confident he will be back in pre-season. We are a Premiership club and this is the place to be for Giles," he told the Evening Telegraph.
Barnes has been linked with a move away from Pride Park following a season that saw him score eight time in 31 starts.
But Davies believes that Barnes should stay put and help establish Derby as a Premiership force.
"It is a great opportunity for them to see the club building and to be involved," he said.
"We will certainly add to the squad and, unfortunately, there will be casualties along the way, for sure. But that is part and parcel of the game.
"For Giles, this is now a platform he must relish and look forward to with Derby."
