Darlington boss Mark Cooper keen for Aman Verma to stay
On-loan midfielder Aman Verma first joined Darlington in November
Darlington manager Mark Cooper is keen to extend the loan of young midfielder Aman Verma from Championship side Leicester City.
Verma, 22, has made seven appearances during his stay at the Arena, scoring his second goal for the club in Tuesday's 3-1 win against Histon.
"We definitely want to keep him," Cooper told BBC Tees.
"He's a big lad, athletic, fantastic ability and he can score goals. He's the kind of player we want to keep."
The Leicester-born midfielder, who initially joined the Quakers in November, added an extra month to his stay at the club just before Christmas.
Meanwhile, Cooper continues to pursue further additions during the January transfer window.
That includes the possibility of a return for Carlisle United midfielder Marc Bridge-Wilkinson, whose loan spell came to an end in last weekend's goalless draw with AFC Wimbledon.
"I'm still trying," said Cooper. "When you're trying to bring in players during the transfer window, one minute you think the deal is dead.
"The next minute you get a phone call to say the deal is back on, and you can get it done.
"At the moment we're no further forward.
"I'm very hopeful we'll have a striker in before Saturday, and the Bridge-Wilkinson deal is not dead yet. We're still working hard at that."
