Transfer delays frustrate Darlington boss Mark Cooper

Cooper has been keen to strengthen his squad at Darlington

Darlington boss Mark Cooper has highlighted the difficulty in persuading players at league clubs to drop into Blue Square Bet Premier.

The Quakers boss has been keen to strengthen his squad but has faced problems in attracting new additions to the Arena.

"The best players, if they're at a league club don't want to drop into the Conference," Cooper told BBC Tees.

"We've enquired about young Premier League players and they won't drop."

Cooper added: "It's not just as easy as picking up the phone and saying: 'I'll have A, B and C'.

"There are a lot of factors that go into trying to get somebody to come in."
