Franz Burgmeier scored against Northern Ireland in March

Darlington have signed unattached versatile Liechtenstein international Franz Burgmeier on a one-year deal.

The 26-year-old, who can play at left-back or on the left wing, was in Albania on Wednesday night as his national side were defeated 2-0.

He has 46 caps and scored seven goals and has played has played club football in his homeland and Switzerland.

Burgmeier was released by Swiss side FC Basel at the end of last season after two seasons there.
