Dagenham striker Josh Scott hit by blood clot

Dagenham & Redbridge striker Josh Scott will miss the rest of the season after it was confirmed he has a blood clot.

The 20-year-old had been suffering from illness and has played only two games in the last two months while medics tried to work out the cause.

"He's had it for a while and to be fair to Josh he was completely unaware," said manager John Still.

"He went through a period early on in the season of discomfort and it's every credit to him that he played."

Still added: "Eventually it got checked out where the blood clot was confirmed.

"Unfortunately it means that he won't be available this season, but we're hoping that his medication kicks in and he comes back as the Josh Scott we had previously."

Scott arrived at Victoria Road 19 months ago from Hayes & Yeading and has gone on to score 17 goals in 64 games.

He has made 18 appearances this season, with his only goal coming in a 3-1 defeat by Southampton in January.
