Martin excited by Palace chance
Dave Martin
Martin steps up from Ryman D1 South to the Championship
Winger Dave Martin has spoken of his excitement about becoming a professional footballer after leaving Dartford for Crystal Palace.

The 21-year-old left the Ryman Division One South side to join Championship outfit Palace on Tuesday.

"It is going to be a massive step up for me because I'll be playing against professional footballers," Martin told BBC Radio Kent.

"It'll be a good test to see what I can actually do in the Championship."

Martin worked as a scaffolder during his two years with Dartford - and found it emotional leaving the Kent club.

"It was hard for me on Saturday saying goodbye to the fans and the club, obviously they didn't know I was going but I knew and it was horrible not being able to say anything," added Martin.

"I has been brilliant at Dartford, manager Tony Burman has taken me a long way.

"He promised me that by the end of the season he'd get me up there and now it's actually happened it's been really good."
