Dowie is desperate for a second-leg turnaround |
Crystal Palace boss Iain Dowie is clinging to the hope that they can pull themselves out of "hell" to book a place in the play-off final. The Eagles head into their semi-final second leg against Watford on Tuesday 3-0 down and Dowie said: "We are in hell and have to find a way out of it.
"Character is about being in the trenches and knowing who you would want alongside you in that situation.
"We find ourselves in the trenches at the moment," the Palace boss added.
Dowie admits he has found it hard coming to terms with the defeat suffered at Selhurst Park as they look to turn their fortunes around at Vicarage Road on Tuesday night.
But he is desperate for his side to pick themselves up in time.
He said: "I am not interested in players coming in here with their chins on the floor. Anyone feeling sorry for themselves will get short shrift from me.
"If they are in that frame of mind they should go and visit a hospital ward, then they would realise what a great job they have."
