Crystal Palace defender Mikele Leigertwood has opened talks with the club about extending his contract. The former Leyton Orient and Wimbledon man is keen to sign a new deal because his current deal expires at the end of the season.
Leigertwood, 23, was Palace manager Iain Dowie's first permanent signing when he joined the Eagles in February 2004 from Wimbledon.
"I'm very hopeful of staying at the club," said Leigertwood.
