Crystal Palace boss Iain Dowie said he remains hopeful Wayne Routledge will sign a new deal with the club. But he admitted he may aim to cash in if he cannot seal a deal with the young winger, who turns 20 on Friday.
"We will have discussions on Thursday. We will wait and see what his response to the contract offer is," said Dowie.
"The offer we made Wayne is a sizeable offer. I am hopeful, but we will have to see. Our relationship is excellent and we hope that he is positive."
Routledge is out of contract in the summer and has been linked with a 3m move away from Selhurst Park.
"He is very important to us, so we have tried to make the opportunity to keep him," Dowie added.
The Palace boss hopes to be able to bring some new faces into his squad during the transfer window and the Eagles have been linked with a 1.2m swoop for West Ham midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker.
Dinamo Moscow claimed on Thursday that the south London clubwere interested in talks with their Russian international striker Dmitri Bulykin.
