Crewe pair Matt Tootle and Byron Moore sign new deals
Matt Tootle made his debut in the game at Northampton on 21 November
Defender Matt Tootle and winger Byron Moore have agreed new contracts with League Two side Crewe Alexandra.
Tootle, 19, will stay at the club until 2012, while 21-year-old Moore has agreed an extension until 2011.
Moore is one short of a century of appearances for the Alex, while Tootle only forced his way into the first team in November, starting just four times.
They follow in the footsteps of young midfielder Ashley Westwood, who signed a new deal with the Alex on Monday.
Tootle told BBC Radio Stoke: "Back when I signed my first pro deal, I knew I had to work hard to get here. I'm over the moon, it means more than anything to me.
"I want to be different, I don't just want to be a boring full-back who stays back and makes it easy for himself. I want to get up there and be different, a bit like Glen Johnson or Philipp Lahm."
Caretaker manager Dario Gradi added: "It's good for them, and particularly for Ashley and Matt. The nice thing about it is that they didn't expect it, so it's a reward for them.
"Byron's a little bit different. He was out of contract in the summer, so the fact that he wants to be here next year is encouraging.
"Also the fact that I want him to be here should be encouraging for him."
