No rush to sign players for Crewe

Crewe manager Gudjon Thordarson has said he will not be rushed in to signing new players.

The arrival of defender Patrick Ada from Histon is so far the only new signing of a summer that has seen 11 players leave the Alexandra Stadium.

Thordarson told BBC Radio Stoke: "I have a lot of options, more than I can take forward now.

"I won't be replacing everyone who has left, but I'll make sure I bring in the right players to help us next season."

The Icelander returned to South Cheshire from Sweden on Monday where he was working towards a Uefa Pro Licence qualification and spending time with the England Under-21 squad, managed by Stuart Pearce.

"I am confident I can pull off a couple more signings later this week, it's important that I bring in the right quality," added Thordarson.

Crewe's players report for the start of pre-season training on Monday, 29 June to prepare for the Alex's first season back in the lowest tier of English football for 15 years.
