Gudjon Thordarson was unhappy at being linked to Argyle's Simon Walton.

Crewe Alexandra Crewe Thordarson has hit out at being linked to Plymouth Argyle midfielder Simon Walton.

It has been reported in some sections of the media that Walton was set to join the club on loan.

But a bemused Thordarson told BBC Radio Stoke: "I don't understand where that has come from. I hadn't even heard of the player.

"There is no truth in that one. There are always names being thrown around, and always people that I'm looking at."

Walton, 21, was a target for former Alex manager Steve Holland last year but turned down the chance of a move.

Alex have so far made two signings in the January window, defender Marlon Broomes and goalkeeper John Ruddy.
