Crewe Alexandra have put midfielder Gary Roberts and defender Danny Woodards on the transfer list.

Both players were told by coach Steve Holland as he aims to refresh the squad that escaped relegation last season.

Crewe are understood to be tracking several players including strikers Calvin Zola of Tranmere Rovers and Anthony Elding of Leeds.

Holland told BBC Radio Stoke: "We have agreed a deal with a midfielder but he hasn't signed the forms yet."

Crewe have also confirmed that they will play Premier League new boys Hull City in a pre-season friendly on 26 July.
