Burnley striker Steve Jones has returned to Crewe Alexandra on loan for the remainder of the season.

The Northern Ireland international is back at Gresty Road almost two years on from joining the Clarets on a free transfer in May 2006.

Jones, 31, originally signed for Crewe from Leigh RMI in 2001, scoring 45 goals in 173 games in his first spell.

"Crewe gave me my break so I owe them a lot and I'm here to score some goals," Jones told BBC Radio Stoke.

A knee injury stalled the move but Jones has recovered in time to help Crewe's battle for League One survival.

"There's only six games left in the season so I want to regain some of the fitness that I'm missing," said Jones.

"I'm a local lad and Crewe is always the first result I look out for, I know Gresty Road like the back of my hand."

Meanwhile, Dean Morgan will remain with the Alex on loan from Luton and four players have left the Alexandra Stadium on loan until the end of the season.

Ryan Lowe has joined Stockport County, Colin Daniel has moved to Leek, Junior Brown joins Witton and Nick Farquharson has signed for Nuneaton Borough.
