Crewe Alexandra's Ben Rix is set to be ruled out for the rest of the season because he requires a hip operation. It is another blow to the relegation-threatened Railwaymen as they will be without the 24-year-old midfielder for four months.
Rix, who has been a regular in the team this season, has been playing through the pain barrier.
First-team coach Steve Holland told BBC Radio Stoke: "Ben has a tear in the cartilage in his hip socket."
