Crewe Alexandra have had a bid for much sought-after Forest Green Rovers striker Stuart Fleetwood accepted. The two clubs have agreed a fee of around 175,000, with Crewe given permission to open talks with the 30-goal striker about a possible move.
Crewe manager Steve Holland told BBC Radio Stoke: "He is a player that is in our range and would improve the squad.
"With any player there is a risk, but he has been prolific in what is a very high standard."
Gillingham and Cheltenham had both failed with offers for the Wales Under-21 international, who has scored 21 Blue Square Premier goals this season.
Fleetwood joined Rovers in 2007 after spells with Hereford and Cardiff City.
Crewe have been on the lookout for a goal scorer since selling Luke Varney to Charlton in the summer.
